Accessibility

We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We treat that as the target we are working toward and measuring against, not a certificate we have been handed.

• Every page is built from semantic HTML with a single main heading and a logical heading order, so screen readers can navigate it.
• All content is reachable by keyboard, and focused elements show a visible gold focus ring.
• Photographs carry descriptive alternative text naming who is in them. Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
• Icon-only buttons and links carry accessible labels describing what they do.
• Body text sits at 16 pixels or larger, and the cream-on-ink palette was chosen to hold contrast rather than for looks alone.
• Animation is limited, and the site honours the reduce motion setting in your operating system.
• Layouts reflow down to a 375 pixel screen without horizontal scrolling, and text can be zoomed.
• Form fields have real labels, required fields are marked, and errors are described in text rather than by colour alone.

Being straight about this is more useful than claiming full compliance:

• Live performance video has no captions yet. When video is added to the music page, captions will follow.
• The press kit includes a PDF one-sheet. PDFs are harder to use with assistive technology than a web page. The same information is available as regular pages on this site, and we will send it in any format you ask for.
• Some photographs are taken in low light and carry visible grain, which can make detail harder to read.
• The site has been checked by hand and against automated tooling. It has not had a formal third-party audit.
